This one’s always been a strange image; iconic, kind of absurd, but totally captivating. I adored this album. Blink-182 was probably my first real dive into pop punk rock and kicked off a full-blown adolescence. It was my soundtrack to skate parks, first heartbreaks, bad haircuts, and everything in between.
I heard a Gen Z say recently: “There’s nothing sadder than a millennial stuck in their musical past… which is basically all of them.” It made me chuckle because it’s painfully true. But it’s not just millennials: every generation clings to the music of their youth. That’s when everything hit hardest, your emotions were louder and when whatever your boyfriend was playing somehow became your favourite band.
Painting these album covers is a little nostalgic time travel. It’s weird and yet oddly grounding.
